Moderator - This is a black and white scan. Normally I have found through moderating many of these books, that with a scan of this type, from the scanner's point of view, the text may originally have come out too light. To rectify this, the contrast is increased which fills in the text - not crisp, but very readable, but any photos are darkened to the extent that many become black blots. This time around, the scanner (the person not the machine) must have made a compromise and darkened the text minimally resulting in nicely clear illustrations and photos. This left the text a bit light and at times blurry but still readable without too much strain and can still be zoomed without additional distortion.
